About Us

Supporting people, challenging racism and celebrating diversity since 2003.

History

Furness Multi-Cultural Community Forum (FMCF) has been delivering inclusive youth and community work in the Furness area since 2003 working with people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, promoting and celebrating multi-culturalism.

Our services include Youth and Community work, advocacy, hate crime support, education and training. Our Youth provision supports young people ages 7-19 enabling young people to grow, learn, socialise, understand share, and celebrate culture and diversity, build skills and resilience, self-efficacy and raise aspirations. Our Community work which comprises of community outreach and drop ins, activities and events, aims to challenge discrimination and racism, foster inclusion, address barriers to support adults to access services, increase confidence, skills, feel empowered and more accepted within the wider community.

Our work includes supporting individuals with a range of issues, including housing, human trafficking, and domestic violence, and these issues are often made more complex due to immigration status, no recourse to public funds, and language barriers. Our work uses a multi-agency approach to ensure all needs are met and people are fully supported. We offer bespoke Hate Crime Awareness training to organisations, schools and youth groups and offer 1-1 support of victims of hate crime.
